Project 01 · Austin

Hickory open-riser
staircase.

SenPro replaced the worn treads on an open-riser staircase with new hickory treads. Each tread was fitted to the existing structure, finished with two coats of stain selected to coordinate with the surrounding hardwood floor, and protected with multiple clear topcoats. The side structures were restored and prepared for painting, which the homeowner completed separately. The existing metal railing remained in place and was not altered.

Project 02 · Austin

Custom stair
nosing repair.

The exposed edge of one stair nosing had cracked and broken away. SenPro sourced a new nosing in the same type of wood, then adjusted its length and thickness on site for a precise fit. The stain was selected to coordinate with the existing staircase, and the replacement was completed with a protective clear finish.

Project 03 · Austin

Spiral staircase
safety upgrade.

Additional metal balusters were installed to reduce the open spacing in an existing spiral staircase railing. Each new baluster was welded to the upper steel rail and secured to the wooden stair structure with dedicated lower mounting hardware. The welded connections were cleaned, and the new metalwork was painted black to match the existing railing.

Frequently asked

Planning interior
stair work.

Can you replace only one damaged stair nosing?

Yes. When the surrounding staircase is in good condition, a focused nosing repair may be a practical alternative to replacing multiple steps. We assess the damage, available material and finish match first.

Can new stair treads match the existing floor?

We select the wood and stain to coordinate as closely as practical with the surrounding flooring. Natural grain, age and the existing finish can create some variation.

Can you modify an existing interior railing?

Yes, depending on its material, condition and attachment points. We can assess repairs, added balusters, handrail work and other focused improvements to existing wood or metal railings.
